MP Govt. to to establish a world standard Buddhist University near Sanchi.


Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, while inaugurating 'Tirth Niketan Bhavan' at Sanchi on October 31 last year had announced to establish a world standard Buddhist University near Sanchi.
Buddhist Society of India national president Chandrabodhi Patil expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the chief minister for the announcement. He said that with the establishment of this university fame of the state would spread worldwide. He said that the University would be established with a cost of Rs 300 crore and the construction work would start within next three months. At first 100 students from the country and abroad would be given admission. The Buddhist Saints would also be given one-year traditional training and at the end of the training they would be given certificates.
The state government has allotted 65 acres of land for construction of the university. The university would be established at 1 km from Salamatpur on Sanchi Road.
Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Society chief Banagal Upatissa Nayak Thero, architect SW Isurunath Bulankulame, and architect Chandama Bandara and Sri Lanka Architect Association director Professor Harsh Munasinge visited the proposed site. On this occasion Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Society Sanchi Centre's Vimaltissa Thero, Karuna Buddh Vihar Bhopal B Suman and Dhammanand, The Buddhist Society of India national president Chandrabodhi Patil, Raisen district collector Sunita Tripathi and others were present.
